The Green Shake – New Years Health Tip #1

It’s easy to take for granted the everyday (sometimes obnoxious) healthy items that we all  have access to on a daily basis.  At times when being healthy can seem “boring”, if you take away the ability to have that choice, it seems like a luxury.

Right now I am in France and the healthiest thing I can find to eat for lunch is a salmon salad. Which includes;  salmon, eggs, croutons, dressing and olives and a FEW wisps of greens or lettuce…

What I would NOT GIVE to have a green shake right now!

I used to look at those people that drank green shakes for breakfast and think to myself… ” I wish I could be that person, but I just love my eggs too much,” cut to 1 year later when I was reading about the most common food allergy people have (EGGS), but don’t realize,  I decided I was going to have experiment with cutting out my SOLE breakfast food since I had never fully solved my chronic upset stomachs.  Now, when you don’t eat dairy, many carbs, or eggs… breakfast becomes down right hard!  This path lead me to experiment with the “Green Shake.”

And It does take some experimenting to get right ! Here is my best version:

1. 1 scoop Vanilla Plant Based Protein Powder
2. 2-3 cups of whatever greens you have in the fridge OR 1 cup of Frozen Greens (spinach and kale are best)
3. 1/2 cup of Flax/Almond/or Coconut Milk (Unsweetened)
4. Banana (1/2) or 1/2 cup Blueberries (frozen)
>>Optional (1 tsp of Coconut Oil or some other fat source)

*** Blend ***

Like I heard from a nutrition expert once… “Its pretty hard to want to have an unhealthy day when you start your day with a green shake. It can’t help but set the intention for they day.”
